The Parang-Niabor (also Niabor , Beadah , Naibor Nyabor , Nyabur , Parang Njabur Laki-Laki ) is a sword from Borneo .

description

The Parang-Niabor has a slightly curved, double-edged, heavy blade. The blade widens from the handle to the location . The place is rounded or, depending on the version, cut off at an angle. The blade usually has one or more interrupted hollow grinds and no central ridge. They are usually not decorated. On some versions, a nose-shaped projection is forged on the blade, which sits on the cutting edge near the handle. This ledge serves as a kind of parry and is called "Kundieng". He is typical of these swords. Below this "nose" the blade is rectangular. This place is called "Sangau". The piece of blade between the nose and the handle is called "Tamporian". The cutting edge is convex, the back is concave. The handle usually has no guard and consists of the horn of the Sambur stag like the Mandau . The pommel is carved in the traditional way and is never decorated with animal hair. His carvings are named as follows:

More modern designs often have a hand guard. The Parang-Nabur is used by the Dayak in Borneo and is a version of the Parang .
