The Niche is a 19 kilometer long left tributary of the Moselle with a catchment area of ​​57 km² in the Grand Est region .

geography

Headwaters

The source is located in the Étang de La Broche d'Avaux , a small pond in the Forêt domaniale de Humont forest on the border between the municipal areas of Bellefontaine and Saint-Nabord . The watershed between the river systems of the Rhine and the Rhone is located only 200 meters southwest of the headwaters at around 605 meters above sea level .

course

The Niche flows through the municipality of Raon-aux-Bois (including the districts of Raon Basse and La Chaoteuse ) after passing the town of Fallières , which belongs to Saint-Nabord . Further north it reaches the districts of La Saucey and Aneuménil in the municipality of Arches and finally flows into the Moselle east of the center of Arches . The last 400 meters of the river runs under an industrial company, channeled to the mouth of the Moselle.
