Surname
etymology
The original name Dursgesäß consists of the old word geses , which means dwelling or residence, and the personal name Duro . The name therefore means Duro's home . The Jordan'sche picture map made in 1592 shows two courtyards with the name Dursgesäß . Other places in the region with this root are Hüttelngesäß , Eidengesäß , Armansgesäß and Mensengesäß .
In some maps you will also find the name Dörsthof , but this is wrong because there are two independent farms. Dörsthof is the name of the restaurant that is located in the courtyard to the right of the Wolfsbach.
Earlier spellings

history
The Dörsthöfe were first mentioned in documents in 1469 as a farmyard in the Somborn area of the open court . While the property on the right, which comes from the estate of the 'Lords of Mespelbrunn ', changed hands relatively often, the property on the left has remained in the possession of a single family for over 250 years. In the early Middle Ages , both properties seem to have been united.
Some local researchers count the Dörsthöfe among the sunken settlements in the Gelnhausen district . Today the farms belong to the town of Alzenau in the Aschaffenburg district .
