Nicholas Britell (* 1980 ) is an American film composer . He was nominated for an Oscar for two of his works .

life and career

Britell graduated from Hopkins School in New Haven , Connecticut in 1999 .

Britell was nominated for Discovery of the Year at the 2016 World Soundtrack Awards for his work on The Big Short .

For the music composed for Barry Jenkins ' film Moonlight , Britell has received several nominations and awards, including a 2017 Golden Globe Awards nomination and a 2016 Hollywood Music In Media Awards. At the 2017 Academy Awards , he was in nominated for the Best Film Music category.

In 2018, Britell worked again with Barry Jenkins and composed the score for If Beale Street Could Talk . There was a new nomination for the Oscar.

Britell has been a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since the end of June 2017 .
