Nicholas Colasanto
Nicholas Colasanto (born January 19, 1924 in Providence , Rhode Island , † February 12, 1985 in Studio City , Los Angeles ) was an American actor .
life and career
In the 1980s, Nicholas Colasanto became known to a wider audience as he cast the bartender "Coach" Ernie Pantusso on the sitcom Cheers . For this role he was nominated three times for an Emmy every year he was a member . Colasanto had previously worked as a busy television director, including for series such as Bonanza , Columbo , Starsky & Hutch and CHiPs . As an actor, Colasanto mostly worked for television. a. was he in series like On the Run , Cobra, Take Over , The Streets of San Francisco orKojak - seen in Manhattan . As a film actor he played supporting roles in the films Fat City (1972) by John Huston , Family Grave (1976) by Alfred Hitchcock and as gang boss Tommy Como in Like a Wild Bull (1980) by Martin Scorsese .
Nicholas Colasanto died in 1985 after a prolonged heart disease while filming the third season of Cheers .
