Nick Didkovsky
Nick Didkovsky (born November 22, 1958 in Bronxville ) is an American guitarist and composer.
Didkovsky studied electronic music at Dartmouth College with Christian Wolff and at Brown University with Gerald Shapiro and deepened his studies with Baikida Carroll , Dave Holland and Pauline Oliveros . Since he was primarily interested in translating the principles of computer music into the context of a band oriented towards acoustic play , he founded the experimental rock band Doctor Nerve in 1984 , with which he released numerous albums. In this group, musicians such as Dave Douglas , Rob Henke and Michael Lytle worked alongside him . He also worked with the Sirius String Quartet ( Ereia 2000). He also presented two solo albums ( Now I Do This 1981; Out to Bomb Fresh Kings 1987) and was a member of the guitar quartets Extended Guitars (with Erhard Hirt , Keith Rowe and Hans Tammen) and by Fred Frith as well as in John Zorn's project New Traditions in East Asian Bar Music . With Hugh Hopper he founded the trio Bone in 2003 , which was expanded to a quartet with Daevid Allen . He also played on albums by the Micro-East Collective as well as Bruno Meillier, Fukkeduk and Gitta Schaffer ( Ankle to Nose ).
His compositions were also presented at the Bang on a Can Festival in New York .
