Nicola Drocco

Nicola Drocco (born February 6, 1979 in Turin ) is an Italian skeleton driver .

Nicola Drocco lives in Alba . He is one of the few Italian winter sports enthusiasts who do not come from South Tyrol . He is trained by Dany Locati . He has been running skeleton since 2003 and has been a member of the national squad since 2004. Drocco made his international debut in November 2004 in a race in the European Skeleton Cup in Igls , where he finished eighth. The Universiade 2005 he finished 14th. In the same year he was third behind Alberto Polacchi and Maurizio Oioli at the Italian Championships . There was the same result the following year. In 2007 he was able to push himself in front of Oioli. Before his first appearance in the Skeleton World Cup , the Italian had several top ten placements in the European Cup. Drocco made his World Cup debut in February 2007 at a race in Winterberg , where he finished 30th and immediately finished in the points for the first time. In the 2007/08 season he first started in the newly created Skeleton Intercontinental Cup , before he was used again in the World Cup in January 2008 and was 23rd in Cesana Pariol and achieved his best placement in the World Cup to date.

Drocco became Italian champion for the first time in 2008, after having been runner-up in 2007 and third in 2005 and 2006. In 2009 he was again in third place and in 2010 he reached second place again.
