Nicolae Irimie
Nicoale Irimie (born December 10, 1890 in Deva , † 1971 ibid) was a Romanian painter and art teacher . He is one of the most famous personalities of the Hunedoara district and one of the most important artistic personalities who were active in Oradea.
Life
First he attended the local high school in his hometown. After graduating from high school in 1911, he enrolled at the University of Budapest, where he studied art for teaching and finished his studies in 1918 with a diploma . In order to indulge his enthusiasm for painting, he then traveled to Vienna to the museums , as a place to improve one's own style and study the masters. He started his work as an art teacher at the Şcoala Normală de băieţi in Arad , then switched to the Şcoala de Arte si Meserii in Satu Mare and then taught Liceul Emanoil Gojdu in Oradea from 1920 to 1940 . Three years after arriving in Oradea, Irimie presented his works to a large audience for the first time. With the personal exhibitions held between 1923 and 1926, Nicoale Irimie established himself in the art world. His works were all bought up by the collectors after the shows, which is also to be seen as a sign of the appreciation shown for him. Since then he has constantly participated in the artistic and cultural life of Oradea. In 1925 his works were shown in the Christmas exhibition and in other exhibitions over the next few years. In 1931 Irmie founded a school for decorative arts and crafts in the Sonnenfeld Palace together with Imre Földes , Roman Paul Mottl and Iványi Jenő . A year later, in 1932, he also took part in the founding meeting of the Asociația Artelor Frumoase and was elected deputy chairman of the association with Ernő Tibor , and from then on participated in its annual exhibitions. Due to ethnic repression , Nicoale Irmie decided to move back to Deva in 1940, where he continued to work until he was old.
Trivia
Nicolae Irmie was the first artist ever to portray the famous lawyer Emanoil Gojdu , who fought for the rights of Romanians in Transylvania and Hungary, without Dolman . However, this painting disappeared from the property of the Gojdu Gymnasium and has been lost to this day.
