Nicolai Rehbinder

Nicolai Rehbinder (born December 6 . Jul / 18th December  1823 greg. In Reval ; † August 31 jul. / 12. September  1876 greg. In Tartu ) was a German writer.

Ludwig Nicolai Graf von Rehbinder, son of Paul Eduard Gv Rehbinder (1794–1870), joined the Russian fleet for five years at the age of 17 . Three years later he entered the civil service of the Tsar. He served for many years in Hapsal , later in Libau , then during the Polish uprising of 1863/64 in Polangen and finally in Reval as an official of the Baltic Railway .

In addition, he was active as a writer and published fiction collections by young authors from the Baltic States .

From 1874 he became seriously ill and died two years later as a result of a dangerous operation.

One of his children was Lilla Rehbinder (1847–1918).
