Nikolaos Katapodis

Nikolaos Katapodis ( Greek Νικόλαος Καταπόδης also Nicolas Katapodis , * 1925 in Piraeus ) is a former Greek diplomat .

Life

Katapodis studied law at the University of Athens . In 1951 he entered the foreign service and became Vice Consul in Alexandria . In 1955 he was chargé d'affaires in Tripoli , Libya. He was first class delegation secretary to the permanent representation of the Greek government to the North Atlantic Council in Brussels. He was Legation Counselor in Cairo and Bonn and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Greek Government to the European Community in Brussels. From 1973 to 1974 he was the first Greek ambassador to Beijing , followed by Kostis Vassilios. From 1975 to 1977 he was ambassador to Mexico City , followed by Petros Panagiotopoulos. From 1978 to 1981 he headed the Greek mission at the UN headquarters in New York City .

From 1985 to 1986 he was ambassador in Bonn . In 1987 he was retired.

Honors

He has been awarded the Order of Mexico, Italy (1982), the Holy See, Portugal, Austria, Spain and Egypt.
