Nicolaus Kommerell (* around 1550 in Tübingen ; † October 8, 1610 there ) was a cloth maker in Tübingen. He was also a councilor .

Life

Nicolaus Kommerell was the second eldest son of the Tübingen baker Fabian Kommerell and his first wife, whose name was not known. He made an apprenticeship as a cloth maker. In 1573 (on the 14th Sunday after Trinity ) Kommerell married Barbara Grüninger (* before 1556, † before June 1590), a daughter of Ottmar Grüninger, mayor of Herrenberg . He had eight children with her, probably only three of them who reached adulthood. The second wife, Sara b. Rieker, he married on the 1st of Advent 1590. She was a widow of two who had previously been married to Lorenz Kienlin and Jakob Speiser, citizens of Tübingen. However, she died no later than a year and a half after the wedding († before mid-1592) and this marriage remained childless. On the 22nd Sunday after Trinity, he married his third wife, Barbara b. Heuss, the young widow of Hans Zeh from Reutlingen . He had seven children with her, only three of whom reached adulthood. She survived Kommerell and remarried in 1613.

The Kommerell coat of arms from the 18th century shows the original motif twice.

Kommerell enjoyed a good reputation and was accepted as the second of the Kommerells - verifiably since 1596 - in the Tübingen council. At that time he was also the fiefdom holder of the hospital. In 1635 he was promoted to court relative (until 1639). Its seal from 1596 shows the Kommerell coat of arms: an arm angled to the right, holding an arrow.

In 1609 Nicolaus Kommerell and his third wife sold their barn to the pharmacist Michael Ziegler for 422 fl .
