Niederbauen Kulm (the spelling varies; mostly Niederbauen Chulm or Niderbauen Chulm on maps , partly Niderbawen on signposts , based on the neighboring higher Oberbauenstock also Niederbauenstock ) is the summit of a mountain in the Uri Alps on the border between the cantons of Nidwalden and Uri .
It has a height of 1923 m above sea level. M. and can be climbed both from Emmetten (NW) in the west and from Seelisberg (UR) in the east. From Seelisberg, the route takes three hours past Schlösschen Beroldingen to Alp Weid ( 1288 m , location ) and from there through a rock tunnel with a ladder to the summit. The route can be shortened with the Brunni - Alp Weid cable car. A small cable car leads from Emmetten directly to the Niederbauen mountain inn at an altitude of 1575 m , from where the summit can be reached in around 1½ hours.
From the summit you can enjoy a comprehensive panoramic view of Lake Lucerne and the mountains surrounding it, such as (selection from N to W clockwise) Rigi-Hochflue , Fronalpstock , Rophaien , Uri Rotstock , Brisen , Stanserhorn , Pilatus .
More than 1,400 feet below the summit, the motorway is A2 in Seelisberg Tunnel .
