State Office for Statistics Lower Saxony (LSN) has been the official name for the statistics authority of the State of Lower Saxony since January 1, 2014 . It emerged from the disbanded State Office for Statistics and Communication Technology Lower Saxony and belongs to the division of the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sport . The LSN is located in Hanover-Ricklingen in the former buildings of the companies Telefunken and Huth-Apparatefabrik GmbH at Göttinger Chaussee 76.

The central task of the state office is the collection of numerous statistics from various areas and their provision for the public, business, science, politics and administration. The LSN works closely with the statistical offices of the other 15 federal states and the Federal Statistical Office . Unlike in many other countries, the management of the state statistics authority in Lower Saxony is not also the state election authority.
