Niels Arden Oplev

Niels Arden Oplev (born March 26, 1961 ) is a Danish film director and screenwriter .

Life

Niels Arden Oplev comes from Himmerland , to which he also dedicated the documentary Hugo fra Himmerland . In 1987 he graduated from the Danish Film School .

In 2007 he was awarded the Robert in the category Best Original Screenplay for the film The Dream . He also received another award in the Best Director category .

He achieved his international breakthrough with the crime thriller Verblendung , the film adaptation of the first volume of the Millennium Trilogy by the Swedish author Stieg Larsson . At the British Academy Film Awards 2011 , Verblendung was named Best Non-English Language Film.

With the strip Dead Man Down he celebrated in March 2013 his Hollywood - debut .
