Nierembergia tucumanensis is a plant type from the type of the white mug ( Nierembergia ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Nierembergia tucumanensis is an upright plant with a height of about 40 cm. The leaves are narrow elliptical, they reach a length of 12 to 25 mm and a width of 1 to 1.6 mm.

The flowers are on 1.5 to 2.2 mm long pedicels . The calyx reaches a length of 13 to 15.5 mm and is covered with pointed-linear, 5 to 6.5 mm long calyx tips. The calyx tube is membrane-like over about half its length. The crown is bell-shaped, the coronet has a diameter of 22 to 25 mm, the corolla tube is 11.5 to 14 mm long. In the interior of the coronary hem, there is hair on the intercostal fields made up of headed trichomes . There are three small, inclined stamens with small anthers and two significantly larger stamens with large anthers. The stylus is curved in the opposite direction to the stamens, below the broad stigma the stylus is slightly widened.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.

Occurrence

The species is endemic to the Sierra de Belén , Sierra de Aconquija and Cumbres Calchaquíes in the Argentine provinces of Catamarca and Tucumán .

The species was first described by Aníbal Roberto Millán in 1941 .
