The Niesehorn is a 2776 m high mountain in the western Bernese Alps near Lauenen . The Niesehorn represents a kind of pre-summit of the Wildhorn ( 3247 m above sea level ). The Niesehorn is the local mountain of the Wildhornhütte and can be easily climbed from there over the south ridge, also as a ski tour.
The mountain is quite inconspicuous and neither developed nor attractive for tourists, as it disappears completely in the much higher three-thousand-meter peaks . The Niesehorn is far away from densely populated areas, Lenk is 15 km away, Lauenen 20 km. The Tungelpass is located near the Niesehorn .
The Niesehorn is not to be confused with the Niesen ( 2368 m above sea level ), which is located at the entrance to the Simmental .
