The Nietzsche House in Naumburg

The Nietzsche House in Naumburg (Saale) is dedicated to the life and work of the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche .

In the summer of 1858, Nietzsche's mother Franziska Nietzsche and her two children Friedrich and Elisabeth moved into house no. 355, now Weingarten 18. She had rented a bright, spacious apartment on the upper floor. In 1878 she bought the house and stayed here until she died. After she died in 1897, her daughter sold the house.

The Nietzsche House in Naumburg has been open to the public since 1994. The life and work of the philosopher is documented in a permanent exhibition, while the house library set up in the exhibition rooms gives visitors the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Nietzsche's work.

The Nietzsche Documentation Center was opened in October 2010 . It is dedicated to the research and critical examination of Nietzsche's reception.
