Nikaure was a prince of the ancient Egyptian 4th Dynasty . Presumably during the reign of Pharaoh Mykerinos he held the office of vizier and was thus the highest official after the king.

Origin and family

Nikaure's parents cannot be determined with certainty. Because of the location of his tomb, he is widely believed to be the son of Pharaoh Chephren . Queen Persenet is considered his mother because her grave is right next to his. The wife and descendants of Nikaure are only known by mentioning them in his grave. His wife was named Nikanebti and was a priestess of the goddesses Hathor and Neith . This marriage had four children: a son named Nikaure and two daughters named Hetepheres and Nikanebti; the name of the fourth child has not been preserved.

tomb

Nikaure owns the rock grave LG 87 on the Central Field in Giza . It consists of two main rooms (a and b), which are one behind the other. In contrast to room a, room b is extended to the west. A smaller room branches off to the west of room a, which was probably not provided for in the original building concept and was only built later. From room b two shafts lead into the underground sarcophagus chamber. In it is an unmarked limestone - sarcophagus .
