Nikolaos Smaragdis ( Greek Νικόλαος Σμαραγδής , born February 12, 1982 in Thessaloniki ) is a Greek volleyball player .

Nikolaos Smaragdis, who plays in the position of middle blocker at a height of 2.02 m, began his career in 1996 with the Greek first division club Aris Thessaloniki , where he played for three years and won the Greek championship in 1997. In the summer of 1999, Smaragdis moved to city rivals PAOK Thessaloniki before signing a three-year contract with the top club Panathinaikos Athens four years later . With Panathinaikos, Smaragdis was able to reach two other championships (2004, 2006) and the final 4 tournament of the Top Teams Cup , with Athens finally taking third place. In 2006 Smaragdis moved to Iraklis Thessaloniki , where he won two further championships and two Supercups in the following three years. In 2009/10 he was back under contract with Panathinaikos.

Nikolaos Smaragdis also played in the Greek national team and took part in the 2006 World Cup with them.
