PAOK Thessaloniki VC ( Greek ΠΑΟΚ Θεσσαλονίκη ΤΑΠ ) is the volleyball department of the renowned Greek sports club PAOK Thessaloniki. The team plays in the top division of Greece, the VolleyLeague.

history

The home of the PAOK VC, the PAOK Sports Arena

The PAOK men's volleyball division was established in 1933. The resumption of gaming operations after the Second World War in 1948 failed again after a short time. Only when the Panhellenic Championship was held again in 1961, PAOK reactivated the department again. For the 1970/71 season, the promotion to the top division of the then A Ethniki succeeded. After the club had lost all games in the league, he was relegated. The renewed first class earned PAOK VC for the 1978/79 season, but could not hold the class again. This time it should only take two seasons before the promotion was successful. The volleyball team has been permanently represented in the first division since the 1980/81 season. Eight times they managed to secure fourth place (1986, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2011). Under Antonis Tsalopoulos as president, the club organized itself in such a way that it took the next stage of development. Under his leadership, the club won the first championships as well as the first cup successes and thus qualified for the European competitions.

Venue

The PAOK VC plays its home games in the PAOK Sports Arena. The club's office is also located in the arena. The fan articles such as t-shirts and jerseys are offered in the PAOK BC store of the basketball department.
