Nikolaus Mayr-Melnhof (born November 9, 1978 in Leoben ) is an Austrian racing car driver . He started in the FIA GT1 World Championship in 2012 .

Career

Mayr-Melnhof began his motorsport career in GT racing . In 2008 he started in the GT4 European Cup and finished ninth in the overall standings. After he had not competed in any international racing series in 2009, he took part in six races of the FIA GT3 European Championship for the S-Berg Racing team in 2010 . Mayr-Melnhof also made his debut in the FIA GT1 World Championship . He and Alessandro Pier Guidi competed for the Triple H Team Hegersport in a Maserati MC12 GT1 at an event. In 2011 Mayr-Melnhof took part in the FIA ​​GT3 European Championship for Reiter Engineering in a Lamborghini Gallardo LP600 + together with Albert von Thurn und Taxis . The two won two races and finished the season in eighth place in the drivers' standings. Mayr-Melnhof also took part in three races in the Blancpain Endurance Series .

In 2012 Mayr-Melnhof received a cockpit in the FIA ​​GT1 World Championship with BMW Team Vita4One . Together with Mathias Lauda , he drives a BMW Z4 GT3 .
