Nicholas Michael of ennobling , even Nikolai Fedorovich Adelung ( Russian Николай Фёдорович Аделунг * October 11 . Jul / 23. October  1809 greg. In St. Petersburg , † November 15 jul. / 27. November  1878 greg. In Stuttgart ) was a Russian - Württemberg privy councilor and secretary to Olga von Württemberg .

Life

Origin and family

Nikolaus belonged to the second generation of the Russian noble family Adelung founded by his father Friedrich von Adelung (1768–1843) . His mother was the general daughter of Friederike Wilhelmine Rall (1778–1848).

He first married in 1845 with Helene Maria Johanna von Kursell (* 1802) and after her death in 1849 with Alexandrine von Schubert (1824–1901). The second marriage resulted in three daughters and three sons:

  • Sophie (1850–1927), German writer and painter
  • Elisabeth (1851-1851)
  • Friedrich (1855–1918), civil servant at the Russian State Bank
  • Nikolaus (1857–1917), Russian entomologist
  • Alexander (1860–1915), Dr. phil.
  • Olga (1864–1952), writer

Career

Adelung was the junior official of the naval field chancellery in St. Petersburg in 1845 and is said to have been a privy councilor in Russia. Since 1848 at the latest he was secretary to the Russian Grand Duchess Olga Nikolajewna Romanowa. He accompanied them to Württemberg and remained at their side in this function at least until 1861. In Stuttgart he was called the Staatsrat or privy councilor. In addition, since 1849 he was a corresponding member of the Society for the History and Archeology of the Baltic Provinces of Russia .
