Niobium (IV) bromide is an inorganic chemical compound of niobium from the group of bromides .

Extraction and presentation

Niobium (IV) bromide can be obtained by reacting niobium with bromine , whereby niobium (V) bromide is also formed.

properties

Niobium (IV) bromide is a very moisture-sensitive diamagnetic solid that is in the form of black needles with a steel sheen. It is soluble in dilute hydrobromic acid, and the solution looks ink blue. Its crystal structure is orthorhombic with the space group Amam (space group no. 63, position 4) , a = 717.9  pm , b = 1222 pm, c = 1285 pm. Template: room group / 63.4
