Noé Roth (born December 27, 2000 ) is a Swiss freestyle skier . He starts in the aerials discipline (jumping). His greatest successes so far are the 2019 world championship title in team jumping and winning the World Cup discipline ranking for the 2019/20 season.

biography

Roth comes from Baar in the canton of Zug . His mother Colette Roth-Brand was a successful freestyle skier in the 1990s, his father Michel Roth is a long-time coach of the Swiss national team. In his childhood Noé Roth first played football , then switched to gymnastics and finally to freestyle jumping. He does his summer training in the Jumpin water jump center in Mettmenstetten .

As a 15-year-old, Roth took part in European Cup competitions from January 2015. Just one year later, he achieved the first podium at this level in Minsk . He won the bronze medal at the 2016 Junior World Championships, which also took place in Minsk. In the 2016/17 season he finally established himself in the European Cup; with one win and three more podium places, he decided the discipline ranking for himself. He made his debut in the Freestyle World Cup on February 25, 2017 in Minsk, where he finished 14th. With good performances in the World Cup, Roth qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , where he jumped to 16th place. Immediately afterwards he became Junior World Champion in Minsk.

After another European Cup victory at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, despite Roth, the 2019 World Cup in Park City . As the youngest of all participants, he surprisingly won the bronze medal in the individual competition and the gold medal in the team competition, which was held for the first time (together with Carol Bouvard and Nicolas Gygax ). A week later, on February 16, 2019, he achieved his first World Cup podium finish in 3rd place in Moscow. At the end of the 2019/20 season, he won a World Cup competition for the first time on March 8, 2020 in Krasnoyarsk , which also secured him the victory in the discipline classification.
