Nobuko Fukuda ( Japanese 福 田修子 , Fukuda Nobuko ; born July 29, 1980 in Ōwani ) is a former Japanese cross-country skier .

Career

Fukuda took part in competitions of the Fédération Internationale de Ski from 2000 to 2012 . She mainly competed in the cross-country skiing world cup , in which she predominantly placed in the midfield. She ran her first World Cup race in November 2001 in Kuopio , which she finished classically with 68th place over 10 km. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , she finished 39th in the sprint and 10th place in the relay. She took her first World Cup point in December 2002 in Davos with 30th place in the 10 km freestyle. Her best placements at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Val di Fiemme were 17th in the 30 km mass start race and 11th in the relay. In December 2003 in Davos she achieved her first top ten placement in the World Cup with fifth place in the relay and her best race result in the World Cup. Her best placement in an individual World Cup race was achieved in December 2004 in Asiago with 15th place in the sprint. She also achieved this World Cup placement in October 2005 in Düsseldorf and in March 2008 in Drammen, also in sprint races. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in 2005 , she achieved 35th place in the sprint, 15th place in team sprint and 12th place with the relay. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Pragelato , she came in 24th place in the sprint, 12th place in the relay and eighth place together with Madoka Natsumi in the team sprint. Her best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo were 20th place in the sprint and eighth place in the relay. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , she finished 53rd in the skiathlon , 44th in the sprint and seventh in the relay. At her last Olympic Games in Vancouver , she finished 51st in the 10km freestyle and eighth place in the relay. In her last season 2011/12 she took part in the Far East Cup , which she finished in second place in the overall standings.
