Nobutaka Taguchi

Nobutaka Taguchi ( Japanese 田 口 信教 , Taguchi Nobutaka ; born June 18, 1951 in Saijō ) is a former Japanese swimmer .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , he won the first gold medal in swimming for Japan since 1956. He was Olympic champion over 100 m breaststroke and relegated three Americans to the following places. After the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 , he ended his career. In 1987 he was inducted into the hall of fame of international swimming .
