Donald McKenzie
Donald Ward "Don" McKenzie (born May 11, 1947 in Hollywood , Los Angeles , California , † December 3, 2008 in Reno , Nevada ) was an American swimmer .
At the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968 , he became Olympic champion over 100 m chest. He was the first Olympic champion over this route. Previously, only medals were awarded for the 200 m chest distance. He also won the gold medal at these games with the 4 × 100 m individual relay of the Americans. He also won an NCAA 100 yard chest while training at Indiana University under coach James Counsilman in the late 1960s .
In 1989, he was inducted into the Swimming Hall of Fame .
