Noel Neill (born November 25, 1920 in Minneapolis , Minnesota - † July 3, 2016 in Tucson , Arizona ) was an American actress who was best known for her role as first actress Lois Lanes in Superman films .

Film rolls

Noel Neill was the first actress to portray the role of Lois Lane in cinema and television. She was in films Superman (1948), Atom Man vs. Superman (1950), as well as in seasons two to six of the series Superman - Savior in Need (1953-1958) to be seen (in the first season Phyllis Coates was the actress).

In 1946 she was seen in the comedy film College Queen in the role of Cindy Harris . She also played in supporting roles in Spiel mit dem Tode and An American in Paris , but was not mentioned in the credits of either film.

In Superman (1978) she had a guest role as Lois Lane's mother, along with first Superman actor Kirk Alyn as their father. In 2006 she played Gertrude Vanderworth , the dying woman at the beginning of the film Superman Returns .

Noel Neill died on July 3, 2016, at the age of 95 after a long illness at her home in Tucson, Arizona.

In 2010, a Lois Lane statue, modeled after Noel Neill, was unveiled in Metropolis , Illinois .
