The Nokia 8 is an Android -based smartphone appearing under the Nokia brand , produced by FIH Mobile and sold by HMD Global . It was unveiled in London on August 16, 2017 and has been on sale in Europe since September 2017.

The special feature of the camera is that front and rear cameras can be used at the same time with the dual sight mode. This is called a "bothie".

It is IP54 certified and therefore protected against dust in damaging quantities and offers protection against splashing water from all sides. The device must not be submerged. There are 4 color options: Polished Blue, Tempered Blue, Steel and Polished Copper.

software

Pure Android is delivered, initially Android 7.1.1 "Nougat". Android 8.0 "Oreo" was made available in November / December 2017 and Android 8.1 in February 2018. In December 2018, Android 9 "Pie" was shipped. The camera application is an in-house development to support the dual-sight feature.

Availability

The Nokia 8 was launched on the German market in September 2017. The RRP was 579 euros.
