Nokia X is a smartphone series from Nokia, all of which are operated with Android OS . The first devices were officially presented at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2014 during a press conference by then Nokia CEO Stephen Elop .

history

For weeks before the launch, it was also referred to as “Nokia Normandy” by the tech media, as it is Nokia's first device with the Android mobile operating system. However, the software of the new X models is not ordinary Android software as there is no Google Play licensing. Instead, it is the Nokia X software platform 1.0 based on Android Jelly Bean.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop officially presented the Nokia X Dual SIM, Nokia X + Dual SIM and Nokia XL Dual SIM at a press conference at the 2014 GSMA Mobile World Congress.

On June 24, 2014 Nokia introduced the second generation, the Nokia X2 Dual SIM.

On July 17, 2014, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that the Nokia X series will be discontinued.

Nokia X Dual SIM

The Nokia X Dual-SIM is the first device in the X series and has a 4- inch IPS touch display with a resolution of 800 × 480. The processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with 2 cores and a clock frequency of 1, 0 gigahertz is used, which has 512 megabytes of RAM and 4 gigabytes of mass storage. The latter can be expanded using a microSD card .

The Nokia X's battery is 1500 mAh . The Nokia X's digital camera has a resolution of 3 megapixels and is installed on the back. A front camera for taking pictures of yourself (“ selfies ”) is not installed.

Nokia X + Dual SIM

The Nokia X + Dual SIM is largely identical to the Nokia X Dual SIM, but now has 768 MB of RAM .

Nokia XL Dual SIM

The Nokia XL Dual-SIM differs from the rest of the Nokia X smartphones and the digital cameras in its 5 inch screen : these now have 5 megapixels on the back and 2 megapixels on the front. An LED flash is also installed. The main memory of the Nokia XL Dual SIM is now 1 gigabyte , the internal memory is 8 gigabytes.

Nokia X2 Dual SIM

The Nokia X2 Dual-SIM has a 4.3 inch IPS touch display with a display resolution of 800 × 480 pixels , which results in a pixel density of 217 pixels per inch (PPI). The processor used is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor, which clocks at 1.2 gigahertz. The main memory has also grown: it is now 1 gigabyte in size. The internal memory is still 4 gigabytes.

The battery is now 1800 mAh. The digital camera on the back has a resolution of 5 megapixels and can record videos in HD (720p). The front camera has a resolution of 0.3 megapixels (VGA).

The Nokia X2 Dual-SIM is available in black , white , green , orange and yellow and its design is reminiscent of the Nokia Asha 503, which was presented at Nokia World 2013.

software

Android OS versions 4.1 (first generation) and 4.3 (second generation) are preinstalled on Nokia X devices . However, the software of the new X models is not ordinary Android software as there is no Google Play licensing. Programs (" apps ") can therefore only be downloaded from the Nokia Store .
