Satya Nadella ( Telugu సత్య నాదెళ్ల ) (born August 19, 1967 in Hyderabad , India ) is an American computer scientist and has been CEO of Microsoft since February 4, 2014, succeeding Steve Ballmer .

Life

Satya Nadella was born into a Brahmin family in Hyderabad , where he also grew up. Satya attended the Hyderabad Public School and the Manipal Institute of Technology in Manipal ( Karnataka , India), from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications . Then he acquired in 1990 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to Master of Science in the subject Computer Science and at the University of Chicago the Master of Business Administration .

After a short time at Sun Microsystems , he started working for Microsoft in 1992. Before he succeeded Steve Ballmer as CEO in February 2014, he was responsible for the company's cloud services .

Private

Nadella is married and has three children. He lives with his family in Bellevue , Washington, USA .
