Nold Halder

Nold Halder (born October 31, 1899 in Zurich , † February 1, 1967 in Aarau ; resident in Lenzburg ) was a Swiss teacher , librarian and archivist .

life and work

After attending the teachers' college in Wettingen , Nold Halder studied between 1919 and 1927 at the University of Geneva , the University of Bern and the University of Dijon . Parallel to his studies, he worked from 1920 to 1926 as a teacher at the grammar school department of the Grünau educational home in Wabern near Bern . In 1927 he acquired the Aargau secondary teacher license and was elected by the government council as a teacher, librarian and archivist to the cantonal prison in Lenzburg , where he worked in the following years a. a. established a commercial training school for adult convicts. In 1942 Halder took over the management of the St. Gallen penal institution and the Saxerriet penal colony attached to it. In 1947 he left this post to accept the election as Aargau state archivist and canton librarian . As a state archivist, Nold Halder dealt with field name research and with cleaning up the municipal coats of arms in addition to his daily work .

In 1928 Halder was one of the founders of the "Association for Nature and Homeland", which from 1930 published the Lenzburger Neujahrsblätter , of which he edited the first 13 years. Halder also played a key role in founding the local history museum in Lenzburg in 1937. Furthermore, he published various things on heraldic and various historical topics, collected sagas and wrote plays.

The estate of Nold Halder is in the Aargau State Archives .
