Nolina elegans is a species of the genus Nolina in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae). An English common name is "Beargrass".
description
Nolina elegans grows stemless and is rhizomatous . The stiff, yellow-colored leaves are 50 to 60 cm long and 9 to 12 mm wide. The leaf margins are serrated.
The branched inflorescence becomes 1 to 3 m long. When ripe, the woody capsule fruits are 7 to 10 mm in diameter. The spherical seeds are 3 to 4 mm in diameter.
Distribution and systematics
Nolina elegans is common in the states of Chihuahua , Zacatecas and Durango in Mexico .
Nolina elegans is a member of the Microcarpae section . She is currently little known. Further research is needed to clarify their status.
The first description was in 1906 by Joseph Nelson Rose .
