Nolina texana is a species of the genus Nolina in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae). English common names are "Texas Sacahuista" and "Bunchgrass".
description
Nolina texana grows without a trunk and forms clumps 1 to 1.5 m in diameter. The variable, grass-like, strong, light green to yellow-colored, concave-convex, falling to the ground, leaves are 80 to 140 cm long and 2 to 4 mm wide. The leaf margins are smooth, rarely toothed.
The inflorescence , which is branched in the leaves, becomes 0.3 to 0.6 m long. The white to cream-colored (rarely pink) flowers are 2 to 3.5 mm long. The flowering period extends from April to May.
When ripe, the woody, round capsule fruits are 4 to 5.5 mm long and wide. The brown, spherical seeds are 2.5 to 4 mm in diameter.

Distribution and systematics
Nolina texana is common in the US states of Texas and New Mexico at altitudes of 200 to 1700 m. It grows in grasslands, on stony ground and on flat hills. It is equipped with Nolina lindheimeriana , Yucca rupicola , nature hybrid Yucca × keithii and various cacti species associated .
Nolina texana is a member of the Erumpentes section . It is widespread. The distribution area stretches from the Edwards Plateau west through the Trans-Pecos region from Texas to central New Mexico . The appearance is similar to Nolina greenei , but Nolina greenei forms a longer, branched inflorescence.
The first description was in 1879 by Sereno Watson .
