Noon Wine is a 1966 American television film directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Jason Robards . Peckinpah also wrote the script for the adaptation of Katherine Anne Porter 's novel of the same name. The film drama was broadcast for the first time on November 23, 1966 by the ABC broadcaster as part of the Stage 67 series.

Farmer Thompson lives a dreary life with his family on a farm in southern Texas. The relationship with his wife is loveless. When a stranger appears with Olaf Helton, Thompson offers him work and accommodation. Helton proves to be a stroke of luck and brings the run-down farm into shape. Nine years later, a bounty hunter appears looking for Helton. Dramatic events develop, which ultimately end with Thompson's suicide.
Awards
Sam Peckinpah was nominated for Best Director by the Directors Guild of America and Best Screenplay by the Writers Guild of America , but failed to win either award.
