Norbert Enste

Norbert Enste (born September 17, 1950 in Mainz , † August 2, 2010 in Göttingen ) was a German communication scientist. He was a pioneer in the field of new media .

Career history

After completing his studies in communication sciences at the Institute for Journalism at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , he took over the newly established department for new media at Schlüterschen Verlagsanstalt in Hanover and expanded it into an area for electronic publications in 1984. In 1988 Jürgen Kanzow called him for the telemedicine and telepublishing projects at BERKOM in Berlin.

At the end of the year he founded the first publishing house in Germany for electronic publications only. In 1990 he got involved in the new federal states and relocated the publishing house to Magdeburg. There he was the initiator and founding member of the association for the promotion of the infrastructure of telecommunications in Saxony-Anhalt, INFRATEL e. V., in which science, business and administration worked together in the interests of the state's development with the assistance of the state's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Deutsche Telekom. In 2001 he started the author project on the Internet.
