Norbert Hofmann (born August 14, 1951 in Coburg ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career

Through the clubs VfB Autenhausen, VfB Coburg and 1. FC Bayreuth , Norbert Hofmann came to SpVgg Bayreuth in 1974 , which competed in the newly founded 2nd Bundesliga . Hofmann soon won a regular place in the Bayreuth team. During this time, SpVgg was almost always in the top half of the table, in 1979 they even finished second and thus played for promotion to the Bundesliga against the runner-up in the North Season, Bayer 05 Uerdingen . Hofmann, who had meanwhile been converted from a striker to a defender, was on the starting line-up in both games. After a 1-1 draw at the Städtisches Stadion in Bayreuth, the second leg in Krefeld was lost 2-1, which meant that the promotion was missed. Bayer Uerdingen's interest in Hofmann was aroused, however, and coach Horst Buhtz's preferred candidate switched to Bayer 05 Uerdingen in the Bundesliga in December 1979.

In the first (half) year the league succeeded. In the following season Hofmann was together with Heinz-Werner Eggeling the most successful goalscorer in his team (ten goals). In addition to his traditional position in full defense, he was also used in various positions in the offensive area. For the team, the season went less well - as bottom of the table was relegation to the second division at the end. The 1981/82 season was only finished with a 12th place in the table, but in 1983 came the resurgence under coach Hans-Dieter Tipphauer , who had replaced Werner Biskup during the season . This time Hofmann was again the best internal goalscorer (eleven goals, together with Peter Loontiens ). In the relegation they were successful against FC Schalke 04 (3: 1, 1: 1). After the 1983/84 season, in which Bayer Uerdingen was tenth under coach Timo Konietzka , Hofmann left Uerdingen and returned to his Bavarian homeland.

Hofmann became player-coach at TSV Ebermannstadt in his new place of residence. He led the club up to the regional league (three promotions). From 1991 he coached various clubs in the Bavarian League ( 1. SC 08 Bamberg , SpVgg Bayreuth , Jahn Forchheim , SC Feucht ). From September 2002 to 2003 he was a DFB base coach in Vestenbergsgreuth . Then he worked again as a trainer and from 2003 to 2008 he was in charge of 1. FC Sand (Association League). From 2010 he coached the district upper division club SV Buckenhofen. After another stint at DJK Weingarts, he joined the Fürth regional league team ASV Vach in January 2015 , with whom the coach was promoted to the Bavarian Football League in 2018 . After a weak start to the 2018/19 season with only eleven points from 18 games and lying in the bottom of the table, he was dismissed at the beginning of November 2018.

Hofmann's main job has been a general agency for Allianz since the mid-1990s .
