Norbert Kössinger

Norbert Kössinger (* 1975 in Landsberg am Lech ) is a German Germanist and Medievalist .

Live and act

From 1994 to 2001 Norbert Kössinger studied German , Nordic , Italian and Catholic theology in Munich and Pisa and in 2001 passed his master's degree and the first state examination for teaching at high schools at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 2005 to 2006 he was a research assistant at the Institute for German Philology at LMU Munich, where he received his doctorate in 2006 with a thesis on Otfrids von Weißenburg's Gospel Book in the Early Modern Era.

From 2006 to 2011 he was a research assistant at the Institute for German Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Paderborn . From 2011 to 2014 he was a university assistant at the University of Vienna , where he completed his habilitation in 2014 with a thesis on German-speaking and Central Dutch rotuli .

In 2012 he was a junior professor at the Department of Literature at the University of Konstanz , took on a visiting professor at the Department of German Studies at the University of Salzburg in the 2014 summer semester and from 2014 to 2018 he was the W3 professor for German literature with a focus on the Middle Ages at the Department of Literature at the University of Konstanz.

Since 2018 he has been Professor of Older German Literature and Culture at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg .

Kössinger's main research interests include Old High German and Old Low German literature, literature and religion, media and transmission history, edition science and history, and the history of German studies.
