Norbert Kopp

Norbert Kopp (born March 22, 1954 in Berlin ) is a Berlin politician ( CDU ). From 2006 to 2016 he was the district mayor of Steglitz-Zehlendorf .

Life and work

After graduating from the Hermann-Ehlers-Gymnasium in Berlin-Steglitz , Norbert Kopp studied geography, mathematics and cartography at the Free University of Berlin . From 1980 to 1995 Norbert Kopp worked at the Berlin State Statistical Office , most recently as head of department for the development of information technology.

politics

In 1983 Norbert Kopp joined the CDU in Berlin. Kopp is chairman of the CDU local association Südende and deputy district chairman of the CDU Steglitz-Zehlendorf. From 1995 to 2000 he was district councilor for building and living for the CDU in the then Steglitz district . From 2001 to January 16, 2002 he was Deputy District Mayor and District Councilor for Education, Culture and Sports in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district. In 2004 he took over the chairmanship of the CDU parliamentary group in the Steglitz-Zehlendorfer district council assembly (BVV) until October 2006 . From November 15, 2006 to 2016, Kopp was district mayor of Steglitz-Zehlendorf, from 2006 to 2011 also head of the human resources and finance department, and from November 16, 2011 head of the human resources, finance and economic development department.

In an internal party vote, Kopp, who wanted to remain district mayor of Steglitz-Zehlendorf for another two years, was defeated by Cerstin Richter-Kotowski . Richter-Kotowski was elected district mayor by BVV on November 9, 2016.

Volunteering

Norbert Kopp is deputy chairman of the church board of the Catholic parish of Saint Benedict in Steglitz.
