Norbert Ockenga

Norbert Ockenga (born October 29, 1971 in Ostfriesland ) is a German journalist , publisher and television commentator. He has been working as a motorsport commentator for the TV broadcaster Eurosport since 1997 and has been the publisher of Pitwalk magazine since December 2010 .

Life

Ockenga began his journalistic career in his high school graduation in 1991 as an intern at the now discontinued motorsport magazine rallye racing . After the internship he worked as a freelancer at rallye racing. At the same time, he started training as a specialist in tax and business advisory professions. He also completed a traineeship at Motor Presse Stuttgart , was an editor at sport auto and freelanced for Motorsport aktuell , RTL Formula 1 reports and titles in England and Australia.

At Motorsport aktuell he was involved in reporting on international and national motorsport until the end of 2009. After a large part of the workforce switched to Speedweek magazine in 2008 , Ockenga stayed with Motorsport for a few months. According to blogger Don Dahlmann, Ockenga was currently “the sole entertainer” at Motorsport at the time . In December 2010, he and a newly assembled team brought the magazine Pitwalk onto the market, which has been published every two months since then.

He has been a commentator for Eurosport since 1997 . Among other things, he comments on the 24 Hours of Le Mans , the FIA World Endurance Championship , the Dakar Rally and other rallies, Speedway (with Egon Müller as co-commentator, among others ), the Porsche Supercup , the World Series by Renault and motorsport Magazine of the station.

He also writes for the special Formula 1 issue of kicker . In 2014 he appeared three times as a Formula 1 expert in the ZDF morning magazine , in 2015 so far once (as of March 31, 2015).

Since 2019 Ockenga has been publishing its own podcast series with topics from motorsport, which is offered under the name PITCAST with several sub-chapters on the magazine's website and the most important podcatchers.

Ockenga lives in East Frisia. He is a member of the Motorsport Club Norden .
