The Nordic Heritage Center is a community recreation facility for winter and summer sports around eight and a half kilometers northeast of Presque Isle in the state of Maine of the United States .

description

The center of the facility is a lodge ( guest house ) built in 2002 with 26 separate wax rooms, a sauna and a restaurant. The lodge also has a collection on the development of skiing in the area.

In winter there are 20 cross-country trails of all levels of difficulty in the area as well as a shooting range with 30 stands, which make the Nordic Heritage Center particularly suitable for biathlon . Two and a half kilometers of the network of trails are illuminated and can be used with roller skis in summer . After the Biathlon World Cup was hosted at the Nordic Heritage Center for the first time for the competitions in the 2010/11 season , it returned for the competitions in the 2015/16 season.

The biathlon facility is unusual in that, unlike in comparable stadiums , the penalty loop is led around the centrally located lodge, which makes it impossible for the athletes to see their competitors.

In summer, mountain bike trails and hiking trails are also available in the area .

The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) uses the facility as a training ground for their biathlon team.
