Norman Gene MacDonald (born October 17, 1959 in Québec , † September 14, 2021 ) was a Canadian actor , screenwriter and comedian .

Life

MacDonald dropped out of high school at the age of 15 and first worked as a stand-up comedian . He was ranked 83 on Comedy Central's "The 100 Best Stand-up Comedians of All Time". He wrote scripts for several episodes of the television series Roseanne , The Dennis Miller Show and Free to Laugh: A Comedy and Music Special for Amnesty International from 1992. He played his first film role in the comedy Billy Madison from 1995. In the comedy Dirty Work (1998) he played one of the leading roles, and he also co-wrote the script. In the television seriesA Minute with Stan Hooper he played the title role of Stan Hooper in 2003 and 2004 , and he also co-produced the series.

MacDonald was divorced and had one son. He died of a September 2021 aged 61 of cancer .
