Dennis Miller (born November 3, 1953 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is an American actor , comedian , screenwriter and film producer .

Life and accomplishments

Miller studied journalism in Pittsburg before starting his stand-up comedy career in New York City and Los Angeles in the early 1980s . During one of his appearances, Miller was discovered by Lorne Michaels and a member of the ensemble on the comedy show Saturday Night Live . Until 1991 he appeared on the show and wrote skits for it . He has been working for the Russian TV station RT since 2020 and has the show Dennis Miller + One there .

From 1994 to 2002 he appeared on the comedy show Dennis Miller Live , which he co-produced and for which he wrote screenplays. As a screenwriter, he won the Emmy Award in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1998 ; in 1997 and 1999 he was nominated for an Emmy Award. As a producer, he was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2000; In 1996 he won the Emmy Award. As a comedian, he was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1999. In 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2001 he won the Writers Guild of America Award ; in 2000 and 2003 he was nominated for the same award.

In the thriller Unveiling (1994) Miller played the role of Mark Lewyn at the side of Michael Douglas and Demi Moore , in the thriller The Net (1995) he appeared alongside Sandra Bullock . He won the American Comedy Award in 1996 for his performance on the television show Dennis Miller: State of the Union Undressed (1995) . In the thriller Never Talk To Strangers (1995) he played the neighbor and friend of Dr. Sarah Taylor , who played Rebecca De Mornay . In the horror comedy Tales from the Crypt: Bordello of Blood (1996) he played the lead role of private detective Rafe Guttman . He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2003 for his portrayal in the television comedy The Raw Feed (2003) .

While Miller was initially considered a left-wing liberal Democrat , he became a staunch Republican , particularly influenced by 9/11 . Since 2004 he has also appeared regularly on the Fox News talk show The O'Reilly Factor , where he debates current political issues with Bill O'Reilly . Both also appear together in a stage show called "Bolder and Fresher".

Since March 2020, Miller has hosted the Dennis Miller + One show on RT .

Miller has been married to former model Ali Epsley since 1988 and has two children.
