The 1976/77 season was the fourth and final regular season of the North American Hockey League . The eight teams should complete 74 games each in the regular season , but the game plan had to be changed after the Jaros de Beauce prematurely stopped playing. The North American Hockey League was played in a division . The team with the highest points in the regular season were the Syracuse Blazers , who also prevailed in the final games of the Lockhart Cup .
