Nossa Senhora do Pópulo was a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Caldas da Rainha . It has 16,201 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

The Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição

history

The parish was founded at the end of the 15th century on the initiative of Queen Eleanor of Portugal . In the further course, today's city of Caldas da Rainha ( Portuguese : Queen's bath or thermal baths of the queen) developed.

The city's historic town hall, now the seat of the local government

Together with Santo Onofre , the municipality represented the actual municipality of Caldas da Rainha. With the territorial reform for the local elections in autumn 2013, it became the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Caldas da Rainha - Nossa Senhora do with the previous municipalities of Coto and São Gregório Pópulo, Coto e São Gregório summarized. Nossa Senhora do Pópulo became the seat of the new municipality.
