During the Thanksgiving vacation in a small Pennsylvania town , a group of old high school friends get together. Former prom king Scott is left by his girlfriend Heather and soon meets his new partner, Tori. Meanwhile, Joel Scott's younger sister is trying to approach Janie by trying to convince with the knowledge he received through her social media posts.

Not Cool was one of two films sponsored by Starz's The Chair show . The two films competed for a price of 250,000 US dollars , based on a "multi-platform voting system". The film took 20 days of shooting and cost $ 800,000.

Not Cool was rated mostly negatively.

The film review aggregator Metacritic awarded the film a single, devastating point based on four ratings. Frank Schreck of The Hollywood Reporter commented that the film was "crammed with quaint clichés, profane language and loveless characters, [...] Not Cool can identify with its title wonderfully". Neil Genzlinger of The New York Times said that the "characters were hideous and poorly played" and that there were "neither thoughtful nor original jokes" in the film. The Los Angeles Times also gave the film a negative rating, calling the film "Hell" and "an insult to the film industry."

On November 8, 2014, it was finally announced that Shane Dawson's film had won and would receive the winning award. Chris Moore, executive producer of The Chair , describes Not Cool simply as "mass compatible". The series producer, Zachary Quinto , called Dawson's film "a waste of time," but was delighted with its victory.

Not Cool has raised $ 36,026 so far.
