Notholirion campanulatum is a species in the genus Notholirion from the lily family (Liliaceae). A synonym is Notholirion bulbuliferum (Lingelsh.) Stearn .
description
The plants reach heights of growth of 60 to 100 cm. There are 10 to 16 flowers per grape-shaped inflorescence . It has red to dark red, pink or rarely reddish purple, bell-shaped, hermaphrodite flowers. The bloom cladding sheets are equally shaped ( tepals ) (3.5 to 5 × 1 to 2 cm). The elongated, brownish capsule fruit is 2 to 2.5 cm long, with a diameter of 1.6 to 1.8 cm. The flowering period is June to August. The fruit ripens in the same year, after which the plant dies. Before the old plant dies, many 5 to 6 mm small, oval bulbs are formed.
distribution
The species is native to the Chinese provinces of Sichuan and northwestern Yunnan ; in Bhutan and Myanmar . It can be found on the edges of forests and grassy slopes at altitudes from 2800 to 4500 m above sea level.
