Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth (Valréas)
The Catholic church Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth in Valréas , a French commune in the Vaucluse department in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur , was built in the 12th century. The church has been a protected monument ( Monument historique ) since 1862 .
architecture
The Notre-Dame church is located in the old town center and consists of a two-bay nave and a transept . The side aisles were added in the 12th century and the nave was extended by a yoke to the west in the 15th century. In the course of time, several side chapels were added.
South portal
The three-part south portal was built in the 13th century. Remnants of an older tympanum were used at the side entrances . The bas-reliefs show figures and tendrils .
organ
The organ goes back in part to an instrument that was built in 1667 by the organ builder Nicolas Béraud (Valréas). The organ case is largely preserved. 1723–1724 the instrument was moved to a newly built organ stage on the west gallery. A second manual (positif) was added in the 19th century. The slider chest instrument has 25 stops on two manual works and a pedal. The playing and stop actions are mechanical.
