Novalis Quartet

The Novalis Quartet is a German string quartet named after the romantic poet and philosopher Novalis . It was founded in Munich in 2003 . Its members had previously worked in quartets such as the Cherubini and Robert Schumann Quartet ( ARD Prize ). Concerts by the Novalis Quartet were recorded by BR , ORF , as well as the Spanish RTVE , Solidaria TV, Localia and CRTVG and some of them were also broadcast live. In the 2010/2011 season the Novalis Quartet performed all 23 string quartets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in six concerts.

Since its inception, the Novalis Quartet has not only developed the current repertoire from classical to modern , but has also premiered string quartets composed especially for the Novalis Quartet, including those by Ulrich Schultheiss , Lorenz Stolzenbach , Christoph Wünsch, Jürgen Schmitt, Gotthard Schulz, Christophe Sirodeau, Yoichi Usami, Reinhard Pfundt and Wolfram Graf .
