Nowe Misto (Ukrainian Нове Місто ; Russian Новое Мисто / Nowoje Misto , Polish Nowe Miasto [Przemyskie] ) is a village in the Ukrainian Lviv Oblast in western Ukraine with about 800 inhabitants.
The village is located in the west of the historical Galician landscape in the Staryj Sambir district on the Wyrwa River (Вирва), about 23 kilometers north of the Staryj Sambir district center and 86 kilometers west of the Lviv oblast center. The border with Poland is 7 kilometers to the northwest.
On August 21, 2015, the village became the center of the newly founded rural community Nowe Misto (Новоміська сільська громада / Nowomiska silska hromada ), which also includes the 13 villages Bolosiw (Болозів), Bonevichi (Болошiв), Bonevytschi (Бочиko), Horічysi (Городисько) Hrabiwnyzja (Грабівниця) Hruschatytschi (Грушатичі) Komarowytschi (Комаровичі) Koniw (Конів) Nyschnja Wowtscha (Нижня Вовча) Possada-Nowomiska (Посада-Новоміська) Sanotschany (Саночани) Towarna (Товарна) and Tschyschky (Чижки), until then it made with Bonewytschi , Horodysko , Hrabiwnyzja , Komarowytschi and Possada-Nowomiska the district community Nowe misto .
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1301 and received Magdeburg town charter in 1463 , was initially in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania , Ruthenian Voivodeship , and came in 1772 as Nowa Miasto to the then Austrian crown land of Galicia (until 1918 in the Dobromil district ).
After the end of the First World War, the place lost its city status and became part of Poland , was here from 1921 as Nowe Miasto in the voivodeship Lemberg , Powiat Dobromil , Gmina Nowe Miasto and was only part of the Soviet Union during World War II and from 1941 to 1944 by Germany occupied and attached to the district of Galicia . After being reconquered by Soviet troops in 1944, it came back to the Soviet Union in 1945 and was incorporated into the Ukrainian SSR , since 1991 the place has been part of today's Ukraine.
